- On October 4, 2025, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Albay Provincial Office, in partnership with Afterhours Production, successfully staged the Diskwento Fun Run with the theme “Bida ang Konsyumer sa Bagong Pilipinas.” The event, popularly dubbed as the Glow Night Run, highlighted both consumer empowerment and healthy lifestyle advocacy, while promoting camaraderie among the local community. The fun run served as a creative platform to emphasize the importance of responsible consumerism in line with the government’s vision for a renewed and progressive nation. Colorful lights, lively music, and an enthusiastic crowd added to the festive atmosphere of the night, making the event both meaningful and memorable for the participants.
- A total of 416 runners from various sectors, including students, professionals, athletes, and families, joined the Glow Night Run, each donning vibrant glow accessories that illuminated the race path. The event fostered unity and inclusivity, as both seasoned runners and beginners ran side by side in support of the advocacy. The program not only encouraged physical fitness but also symbolized the active role of citizens in shaping the country’s vision of “Bagong Pilipinas.” The overwhelming turnout reflected the strong support of Albayanos toward initiatives that go beyond sports, blending civic awareness, consumer rights, and recreation in one dynamic activity.
- Adding value to the occasion, a Diskwento Caravan was also organized, giving participants and attendees access to basic necessities and prime commodities at reasonable prices. Three distributors joined the caravan, namely Fishda Dried Fish Store, Magnolia Mabuhay Chicken Corner, and Enagic Philippines, each offering discounts and special deals to the public. This feature underscored the DTI’s advocacy to protect and empower consumers by ensuring accessible goods and services at reasonable prices. Overall, the event was not only a celebration of health and wellness but also a reaffirmation of the DTI’s continuing mission to make every Filipino consumer a true “bida” in the country’s journey toward inclusive growth and development.
